Like a smash burger or pizza burger, this loaded cheeseburger is a tasty and entertaining take on a classic, but it still has all of the essential elements of a burger. We are mixing blocks of cheddar cheese, or any other type of cheese, into the meat mixture in place of putting a slice of cheese on top of the burger.
You’ll be biting into real cheddar pieces when you bite into this Cheese Stuffed Burger. You will enjoy this if you are a cheese lover!
Smoke adds a depth of flavor to these cheese-stuffed beef patties, so whether they are cooked on the stovetop or the grill, they always taste better.
Ingredients
- 6Â hamburger buns, split
- ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3 pounds ground beef
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ pound bacon, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
Directions:
- Using your hands, combine the ground beef, barbecue sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt in a sizable mixing bowl. Form each of the little handfuls (about 1/4 pound) into 12 thin patties.
- Place the patties in the refrigerator after spreading them out on a cookie sheet and covering them with plastic wrap.
- Add the bacon to a big skillet, and fry it over medium-high heat for about five minutes, flipping it occasionally, until it is uniformly browned. Using a slotted spoon, remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Lower the temperature to medium and sauté onions in the leftover bacon grease until they become tender and start to turn golden brown.
- In a small bowl, combine bacon and onions.
- Set an outside grill over medium heat and give the grates a quick oiling.
- Â In the meantime, take the beef patties out of the fridge. Place 1 1/2 tablespoons of the bacon and onion mixture on top of 6 patties, then top with cheese that has been shredded. Place one of the leftover patties on top of each and seal the edges by pressing them together.
- Cook the stuffed patties for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, or until the center of the beef is no longer pink. At least 160 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius) should register on an instant-read thermometer put into the center.
- Serve with your preferred condiments on hamburger buns.
