**taking a break from my regularly-scheduled food programming for a personal post**
SUMMER SCHOOL IS OVER! I was the elementary principal and let me tell ya-organizing that in the middle of a pandemic was NO joke.
Now I’m trying to savor the few moments I get this summer between planning to teach a new grade level in a completely different school structure, studying, taking my School Leaders Licensure Assessment, moving, planning for New Teacher Academy and the mentorship program, and submitting my final internship project for my last grad class.
It hasn’t been much of a summer “break” for me. In fact, I’ve felt anxious and overwhelmed at almost every moment. I just try to remind myself that change and personal/professional growth are both uncomfortable, but also inevitable and usually worthwhile. Maybe “Summer Kelley,” my joyful and carefree summer alter-ego, can make her reappearance next summer.
For now, I’ll savor these sweet mornings having coffee on the patio with my lil Sugar 🐶. She’s a lover of the light. She basks in the sunbeams and smiles ear to ear. I think we can all learn a lesson from Sugar about savoring moments, being grateful, and finding joy despite all that has happened and the endless unknowns of what is yet to be ☀️ ☕️
