Ingredients:

Here are the ingredients that are needed for making Sweet and Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings:

For Wings:

  • 3 lbs chicken wings
  • One tablespoon of olive oil
  • To taste, add salt and pepper
  • One teaspoon of powdered garlic
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional for smokey flavor)

For making the Sweet and Spicy Garlic Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar (for added sweetness)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch combined with 1 tbsp water (to thicken)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Set the oven’s temperature to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet gently or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Get the wings ready: Using paper towels, pat dry the chicken wings. This aids in the wings’ crispy baking.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, and then sprinkle salt and pepper on top.
  4. Bake the wings: To bake the wings, place them on the baking sheet in a single layer. Bake the wings for 25 to 30 minutes, turning them halfway through, or until they are crispy and golden. To make them more crispier, you can also broil them for the final two to three minutes.
  5. Prepare the sauce: In a small saucepan, mix together the honey, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, brown sugar, and sesame oil while the wings are baking. Over medium heat, bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add the cornstarch-water combination to the simmering sauce to thicken it. Cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon, about 1 to 2 minutes more.
  7. Coat the wings: Take the wings out of the oven and put them in a big basin when they’re done. Coat the wings equally by tossing them in the sweet and spicy garlic sauce.
  8. Place the coated wings on a serving plate for garnishing and presentation. For added taste and appearance, garnish with chopped cilantro, sesame seeds, or green onions.
