The ideal breakfast to create a cozy and affectionate atmosphere on Valentine’s Day is romantic French toast. Thick, golden pieces of soft brioche or challah bread, which are nicely crisped on the surface but still soft and custardy on the inside, are used in this recipe. Each bite is rich and savory, with a hint of vanilla and cinnamon, and a sprinkle of powdered sugar and fresh berries provides a pop of color and sweetness. A sprinkle of honey or maple syrup and a dollop of whipped cream provide an extra decadent touch, turning the dish into a sumptuous morning treat.

In addition to being a meal, this breakfast is a lovely expression of love and care, adorned with delicate edible flowers. To make it extra special, here’s a refined version of the recipe with a few romantic touches:

Ingredients:

  • Four thick, soft bread pieces (a cinnamon swirl bread, challah, or brioche would be great)
  • Two huge eggs
  • Half a cup of milk or heavy cream (or dairy-free milk like almond milk)
  • One teaspoon of vanilla cream
  • Half a teaspoon of cinnamon
  • One tablespoon of sugar (optional; adds sweetness)
  • A dash of salt
  • For frying, butter
  • Fresh berries, including blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries
  • Sugar powder for dusting
  • Honey or maple syrup
  • For a lovely touch, whipped cream is optional
  • Flowers that are edible (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the eggs, cream or milk, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and vanilla essence in a shallow dish until thoroughly blended.
  2. Slice the bread into 1-inch thick pieces. To add a romantic touch, cut out heart shapes from the bread slices using a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  3. Melt some butter in a big skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  4. Make sure to coat both sides of each bread slice by dipping it into the custard mixture.
  5. Cook the bread pieces in the skillet until they are crispy and golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  6. Place the French toast onto plates and garnish with powdered sugar, a dollop of whipped cream, and fresh berries. Add a few edible flowers, such as violets or pansies, for an added romantic touch.
  7. Pour some honey or warm maple syrup over it.
  8. Serve with a glass of freshly squeezed juice or a side of chocolate-dipped strawberries.
  9. Set the scene by playing romantic, mellow music in the background.
